1 dead in police-involved shooting in Vineland

VINELAND, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police in South Jersey say a deadly shooting involved one of their own.

Officers responded to 7th and Cherry streets in Vineland around 1 a.m. Sunday for a report of shots fired.

Police say a person had been robbed by two men.

Arriving officers encountered the suspects and there was an exchange of gunfire.

One of the suspects was killed and the other fled.

The victim who was killed has been identified as Richard Bard, Jr., 31 of Bridgeton, NJ.

The victim of the robbery was flown to the hospital in stable condition.

The Cumberland County prosecutor's office is now investigating
