Crash on Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) leaves 1 hurt

FAIRMOUNT PARK (WPVI) -- At least one person has been injured in a crash that tied up traffic on the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) near Philadelphia's Fairmount Park.

It happened after 1:30 p.m. Monday in the westbound lanes between the Montgomery Drive and City Avenue exits.

Video from Chopper 6 HD showed three of four lanes of the expressway blocked as police responded to the scene.

One person was seen lying on the road, outside a silver sedan which had struck the concrete barrier dividing the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-76.

Another car was stopped in the middle of the highway.

There was no immediate word on the extent of injuries from the crash.

Traffic was at a virtual standstill on I-76 West for a period of time.
