NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's prison system was commended for an innovative program, in which inmates are seeing the fruits of their labor, literally.
Here at the corrections center in the northeast, they've started what's called a food recovery project, in which tons of wasted food is composted, and re-used, to grow a fruit orchard and several vegetable gardens.
Thursday, officials with the environmental protection agency praised the program, which also gives many of the inmates valuable hands-on training in horticulture and gardening.
