Security guard threatened with needle during robbery in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for a suspect who threatened a security guard with a hypodermic needle during a robbery in North Philadelphia.

The incident happened on April 20 inside a Rite Aid Pharmacy on the 300 block of East Allegheny Avenue.

Police say the suspect walked into the store around 12:30 p.m., grabbed several items from the shelf and tried to leave the store without paying.

When a security guard confronted him, the pulled a hypodermic needle and threatened to stab the guard before running from the scene.

He got away with 5 Airwick Fresheners worth $60 dollars.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, 5'10" tall with a thin build and light complexion. He was wearing a gray skull cap, red Phillies hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.
