Eastern State Penitentiary cut the ribbon Wednesday on a new, groundbreaking exhibit

FAIRMOUNT (WPVI) -- Eastern State Penitentiary cut the ribbon Wednesday on a new, groundbreaking exhibit.

It's called "Prisons Today: Questions in the Age of Mass Incarceration."

It challenges visitors to re-examine their thoughts about the role and effectiveness of prisons in America.

The exhibit is three years in the making, and officials say it's the first major museum exhibit to tackle the issue.

You can check it out for yourself, starting this Friday.
