Holy Ghost Prep brothers eyeing MLB, NHL drafts

Brothers are living out their sports dreams.

Nolan Jones looks like a professional baseball player and by June 9th, he might just be one.

The Holy Ghost Prep senior shortstop and pitcher signed with Virginia, but is rated among the top 20 prospects in this year's Major League Baseball draft.

"It's always been a dream of mine. I watched professional baseball. Going to professional baseball games just thinking I may have an opportunity to be on that field is really just indescribable," Nolan said.
Nolan has a rifle for an arm and is batting .620 with natural power.

"The ball just jumps off his bat. I never have and probably never will have a chance to coach somebody of his talent ever again. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity," Holy Ghost Prep coach Vince Rossomando said.

Nolan puts on quite a show. It's impressive to see in person and draws quite a crowd including major league scouts. It should be pointed out, the Phillies have the number one overall pick in the draft.

"We had one game with about 40 scouts, I think every major league team was at that game. Every major league team has been here at least some point this year," Rossomando said.

Also in the crowd was a familiar face, Nolan's older brother, Peyton, who graduated Holy Ghost Prep in 2014.

Here's where the story gets interesting.

This June, Petyon might get drafted, too, by the NHL.

The 20-year-old Penn State signee is a standout goalie in the USHL, the top junior league in the country.

"I can't even put it in words, to be honest. It would be an honor to get drafted," Peyton said.

"Honestly, it's kind of crazy. It's not something we expected. He committed to Penn State and that is his first step of his journey. Now, this could be indescribable for our family," Nolan said.

Two brothers. Two different sports. One common goal. The pros.

Next month, both dreams could come true.
