WILDWOOD, N.J. (WPVI) -- Despite the gloomy weather, people across the region are still getting ready for summer at the Jersey Shore.

In Wildwood, New Jersey, people are counting down to Memorial Day Weekend.

"Not a lot," said Aisha Impey of SplashZone Water Park when asked what they do between the months of September and May.

Now though, it's time for the Jersey Shore to wake up from its annual hibernation, and get ready for the summer vacation season.

For example, they are hard at work at the SplashZone Water Park, adding the finishing touches with the expectation of opening on Memorial Day Weekend.

"The park has come great features. We have the Flow Rider in our Flow House Bar and Grill. It's a lot of fun; it's a simulated surf ride," said Impey. "It should draw a really big crowd this year."

Tom Wagner, manager of Harry's Corner, is also expecting a big crowd to buy his famous Greek sandwiches.

"In Wildwood we say, 'Gy-ro,' " said Wagner when asked about the proper pronunciation of the popular food.

Summer vacation season is right around the corner but, for now, it's pretty chilly down at the shore.

Still, the countdown is on for forecasts consisting of nothing but sunshine and blue skies.
