Pedestrian struck, killed by freight train in Ewing Township

Mercer County authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a freight train in Ewing Township.

EWING TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- Mercer County authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a freight train in Ewing Township.

It happened around 6:10 p.m. Friday on the Trenton side of the Delaware River Bridge.

Police say a person was hit by a CSX freight train traveling from South Kearney, New Jersey, to Philadelphia.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Train traffic through the area was suspended Friday night while an investigation was conducted.

The CSX train consisted of two locomotives, 25 rail cars of mixed freight and three empty rail cars.
