8 injured in Trenton shootings

Six people were hospitalized after shootings in Trenton.

TRENTON (WPVI) -- Eight people were sent to the hospital after two separate shootings in Trenton.

The first shooting happened just before 1 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Six men were shot in this incident.

They are described as two 28-year-olds, two 29-year-olds, a 26-year-old and a 40-year-old. They were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

Police say the victims were attending a cookout when gunfire broke out.

Approximately 10 minutes later, Trenton police responded to reports of shots fired in the 200 block of Spring Street.

When they arrived they discovered a 23-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the right leg.

Police say the woman was in the street having a conversation with another person when a vehicle pulled up; someone from within the vehicle then began firing at them.

The woman ran, but soon realized she had been shot.

She was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

A short time later, a 31-year-old male arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the left foot.

All eight victims are expected to survive their injuries.
