OLD CITY (WPVI) -- A malfunctioning transformer knocked out electricity to part of Old City Sunday afternoon.

PECO says wet weather conditions caused the transformer to fail in the 300 block of Wood Street.

Initially, 1,200 customers were affected.

Officials say 42 customers remain without power.

PECO says restoring power to the remaining customers is a complex job and could take up to 12 hours.
