Shootout ends in tragedy in Hunting Park

HUNTING PARK (WPVI) -- A 47-year-old man is dead following a shootout in Philadelphia's Hunting Park neighborhood.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on the 3900 block of North 9th Street.

Officers arrived after reports of shots being fired. They discovered the victim face down and dead on the street.

Police say a semi-automatic weapon was found under the victim's body.

Seventeen spent gun shells were also found at the scene.

Shortly after the shooting, a 27-year-old man showed up at Temple University Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left shoulder. He is listed in stable condition.

Police believe the shootout was between these two men, who both live in the area.

Investigators are checking the area businesses for surveillance video.
