Flag for Hope travels through our area
A travelling symbol of peace and unity is making its way across the country, and Tuesday it arrived in Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A travelling symbol of peace and unity is making its way across the country, and Tuesday it arrived in Delaware.

Just in time for Flag Day, the Flag for Hope made a stop at the Dry Clean Express on Concord Pike in Wilmington.

The business owners hosted a welcome ceremony where people could place their fingerprints in acrylic paint on a large canvas.

The image represents thousands of americans holding hands without conflict or hatred.

The Flag for Hope was started on Memorial day last year, and has visited 35 states since then.

Its creators want to send a lasting message. "we actually ask people name, city and state.... look up their ancestors name and see what they had to say about the american flag."

Organizers want to end the flag's journey in Pearl Harbor if they can secure a flight to Hawaii.
