Officials: Souderton inspector defrauded homeowners of $18K

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A local home inspector is charged with defrauding home buyers in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties.

Joseph Michalski of Souderton, Montgomery County had a business called Sherlock Homes Inspection Services.

Detectives say he put people in jeopardy by falsely performing radon and water tests that could impact their health.

Police say he collected $18,000 from at least 138 home buyers.

Michalski is charged with felony theft by deception, receiving stolen property and related offenses.

He has been released on $20,000 unsecured bail.
