More than a dozen high school students are facing charges in Delaware after a series of fights inside their school.

Newark Police say a total of 14 students will be charged after the incidents at Newark High School on Monday.

Police expect to charge all 14 students with disorderly conduct and at least one student will face a second charge of resisting arrest.

Investigators note that the investigation continues.

Newark Police say they were investigating one fight on Monday morning when another broke out.

Lt. Matthew Farrall of the Newark Police Department explains, "There was a crowd of several hundred people that were in the hallway at the time. That crowd, just because of its size and nature, prevented the officers from quickly getting to the fight."

Joseph Crossan, a student at Newark High, tells us, "These kids were fighting for at least two minutes, three minutes. I didn't see any teachers respond when they were supposed to."

Another student, Larry Williams, says, "Two girls just starting pushing and shoving and screaming, and next thing you know I am on the ground nearly getting stomped on."

Police say no one was injured.

The students who are facing charges were later released to their parents.
