ATLANTIC CITY (WPVI) -- An Atlantic City firefighter and police officer worked together to rescue a woman from drowning in the ocean.

It happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the ocean off the 500 block of the Boardwalk.

Acting Battalion Fire Chief Kur Marrone arrived to the scene to the find Tai'ay Conn of Trenton, New Jersey, struggling to stay up in the water. He attempted to rescue her.

Police officers Patrick Finegan and Kevin Dever made their way to the scene.

Marrone, who had grabbed on to Conn, was being slammed against a jetty from the waves, and struggling to get out.

Finegan was able to pull him out of the water. Finegan then pulled Conn to safety.

Finegan was also able to assist two others out of the water who were trying to help the first responders when they slipped off the rocks into the ocean.

Conn declined any medical assistance.

Finegan, who sustained cuts to his hands and arms during the rescue, also declined medical assistance.
