Crime Fighters: $20,000 reward offered in shooting death of Lateef Faison
POWELTON (WPVI) -- The mother of a young man shot and killed is asking for help in finding his killer.
"He was just always happy, so to know him was to know a good person," said his mother, Towanda Faison.
Faison spoke with Action News about the last time she saw her son, Lateef, alive.
"He grabbed something to eat and he kissed me and he said, 'OK, see ya later,'" said Faison.
On March 9, Lateef was in the area of the 4000 block of Green Street in Philadelphia's Powelton section.
Just before 6 p.m., police were called for shots fired. When they got the call, Faison and her husband rushed to the hospital.
"They sent the chaplain to come talk to us, and from that moment right there, once again I did not know any details but, I knew something wasn't right," said Faison.
Lateef's parents were told their son was shot in the head.
"He held on for nine days exactly," said Faison.
He died on March 18.
The City of Philadelphia is offering up to $20,000 as a reward for anyone that comes forward with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
Anonymous tips can be submitted to the Citizens Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS.
Faison says very little is helping her during this difficult time.
"I am so many different things. I'm numb, I'm angry. I don't know, I don't know how I'm getting up every day. I'm taking it second by second," said Faison.
