If it's been a long week, chances are working out might be less of a priority. So one local group is helping to restore your muscles and kick start the weekend.
This is a different kind of workout. The goal is to reset both your body and mind.
It's a way to unwind after a long week with yoga, friends and beautiful scenery.
Core Fitness is typically known for their intense bootcamp classes, but trainer Cindy Brown says they also wanted a way to allow people to relax, stretch and hang out as a community.
"I think balance is the best word," she said.
Cindy says BYOC or bring your own candle, sunset yoga incorporates simple, full-body moves and helps restore muscles from previous workouts and from work itself.
"I feel like everything is elongated and nothing is as tense as it was from sitting at the desk all day," said brianna Rooney from Fairmount.
And while it may seem like a stretch to find a zen-like feeling amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, I brought my beach-chair candle to help.
"(Once we got going) it's really easy to block all the noise, the cars and really get focused on the class," said Jackie Lanza of Old City.
Cindy says that's the goal.
"We are so tight on our schedules, this is one little window of time we take for ourselves," she said. "You know you're going to have other benefits whether it be muscle recovery or emotional well being. There's a lot of other things that come with it."
And because this is on a Friday night, the class is followed by a mini happy hour in the neighborhood so you can hang out with friends or get to know new friends.
The next BYOC sunset yoga is scheduled for July 22nd at 6:45 pm at the Art Museum steps.
There is also Wednesday evening Yoga at the Logan Hotel Courtyard on July 6th.
Core Fitness also has other outdoor yoga and bootcamp classes during the week.
