A man and his young son were killed after two watercraft collided in Atlantic County.

SOMERS POINT, N.J. (WPVI) -- A man and his 8-year-old son were killed after two watercraft collided in Atlantic County.

It happened around 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the father was sitting behind his son as they were riding on Patcong Creek in Somers Point in Atlantic County. They hit another personal watercraft head-on as they rounded a curve.

The father and son were taken to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead. State police say they were Maryland residents.

The other driver, a 55-year-old woman from Egg Harbor Township, suffered a wrist injury.
