Video shows incredible bond as girl teaches deaf dog sign language

PASADENA, Calif. -- A young girl from California and her dog share an incredible bond, and now they're sharing their story with the world.

Julia was born deaf and so was her dog, Walter.

Julia's mom said when she first held Julia, her daughter could not hear her voice, so she smelled her neck.

The first time she held Walter, he did the same and she just knew.

Video from the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA 1620 Media shows the pair's heartwarming interactions.

Every day, Walter waits for Julia to finish her homework; after that, it's playtime.

Now, Julia's teaching Walter sign language. So far, he seems to understand "food" and "I love you."
