Dell Music Center's Summer Season - 6abc Loves the Arts

July 13th, 2016 (WPVI) -- The temperature isn't the only thing heating up this July. The Dell Music Center's summer season gets into full swing with a lineup of music, movies, and activities designed for the entire family to enjoy.

General Manager Susan Slawson describes the Dell as a welcoming environment, "For the past 42 years, there's been an opportunity for community members to come here and enjoy cultural festivities and cultural events," says Slawson.

Tickets are selling fast for their annual Essence of Entertainment Festival, which is held every Thursday evening through August, "There's a whole host of artists that we'll be having there this summer," says Slawson.

Award-winning artists like India Arie, Chrisette Michelle, and Mary Mary are set to perform this month. "It's a big party in here. People are dancing throughout this venue. So it's not just a concert; it's an experience," says Slawson.

August 18th should bring a special treat for the ladies. "We're looking forward to having Johnny Gill, Avant and Jodeci. That's our ladies night with those men up on the stage," says Slawson.

August 25th, Sheila E and Morris Day and the Time take the stage with a tribute to Prince. "I think that's going to be a wonderful opportunity for people to come out and experience some artists that performed with Prince for years," says Slawson.

The Dell hosts free movie nights as well. July 26th is Disney Pixar's Inside Out and August 16th is Creed.

"We wanted to do something to honor Philadelphia," explains Slawson, "So please come out and enjoy this summer underneath the stars."
