DHS backpack drive

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- People across Philadelphia are pitching in to help children in the foster system.

The department of human services is collecting school supplies as part of their yearly backpack challenge.

The program officially launched Tuesday afternoon during an event at Dilworth Park.

Everything collected will go to students in need who are headed to high school and college.
