Move over Hillary and Trump - Lucy the Elephant is running for president!

MARGATE CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Move over Hillary and Trump - Lucy the Elephant is running for president!

"Her platform is Lucy for President and peanuts for all," said Jeremy Bingaman, Education Direction and COO Lucy the Elephant. "This year is a very popular year with the election, and we thought it was a great way to celebrate her birthday."

The National Historic Landmark in Margate City, New Jersey, is turning 135 years old.

"Lucy was built in 1881 by a gentleman named James Lafferty from Philadelphia who owned a lot of land here on the island," said Bingaman.

The idea was to use her 6-story size to show off the land that he had for sale.

Fast forward - Lucy has evolved into a beloved tourist attraction.

"You go upstairs through her legs, and you can actually be in her belly and look out her eyes," said Bingaman.

At night her eyes light up blue in honor of "Ol' Blue Eyes" himself, Frank Sinatra.

And for a very short time, she even served as a family residence.

Saturday is the big birthday bash with all day fun for the family.

"We're going to have little carnival games, we're going to have different bounce rides, an inflatable rock wall and a 9-hole miniature golf course for the first time this year," said Bingaman.

And being an elephant, the symbol of the Republican party, we had to ask about her party affiliation.

"She is an elephant, but you know Lucy is just Lucy, everybody loves her for who she is," said Bingaman. "She's not Republican and she's not Democrat."
