PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) --A local trainer says if you want to look like a professional athlete, you have to train like one.
And that's the goal of his workout classes.
The program is for all levels. It's for anyone who is looking to take their fitness and their physique to the next level.
With a huddle and chant, the workout with Fit Academy begins behind the Art Museum.
Trainer Osayi Osunde sets the tone: You're here to push yourself, but also work as a team.
It's something he practiced as a lifelong athlete. He played football at Villanova and did a short stint with the Green Bay Packers.
"It was great. It was the best football I've ever played. You're around the top athletes that you'll ever meet," he said.
Now, he incorporates all the training he learned to help others get in shape.
Registered Nurse Ali Gorman did a circuit training class, a full-body workout with stretching, cardio, plyometrics, strength training and balance and core work.
"Everything's going to be so sore tomorrow," said Ben Tudor from Center City.
And that's the goal - to get results.
Eliot Shorr-Parks, a writer for NJ.com, says he joined last summer and lost 20 pounds.
"Honestly, it's the best shape of my life I have ever been in," he said.
I admit I was a bit nervous to join, but quickly felt welcome.
"Having a group dynamic really helps. Everyone motivates one another," said Cher Baylor from Fairmount.
Osayi says it's not about training harder, it's about training smarter. All levels are welcome.
His advice for anyone looking to improve their health is to start with education.
"Don't be afraid to pick up a book, don't be afraid to talk to a health professional, talk to a trainer, talk to a nutritionist," he said.
And of course, he says nutrition also plays a big role if you're trying to get in better shape.
Fit Academy has classes six days a week and will also be opening a gym in the Fall.
Classes cost $18-20, but there is a free class on Aug. 2.
