The LGBT community showed not just their pride in their community, but also in their city as the Democratic National Convention rolled into town Sunday.

Hillary for President, gay pride and a party to show the world just how hopeful the Philadelphians are, the DNC will open their arms to everyone in the LGBT community.

"We are going to see national leaders from around the country come here and talk about why LGBT rights are American rights, are civil rights, are human rights," said Rep. Brian Sims (D-Philadelphia).

The Democratic platform this year is the most progressive in LGBT history, promoting absolute full equality under the law.

"I want to live in nation that is creating jobs, a nation that is protecting me and respecting me," said Sims.

And these celebrations across the city are showcasing Philadelphians inclusiveness on a variety of issues.

"We have a great opportunity to show people around the world, and especially this country, what Philadelphia is, and how inclusive it is," said Democratic City Councilman Mark Squilla.

Like the use of marijuana, local supporters of legalization are proud of the party's move toward supporting medicinal use, but some are pressing Clinton for more.

"We've got to end the prohibition completely. I would like to see us move in that direction in terms of a platform," said Sen. Daylin Leach. (D-King of Prussia).

And the Democrats plan to highlight the differences between them and the Republicans platform on both of these issues this week.
