Smithsonian Museum looking to hire beer historian

WASHINGTON (WPVI) -- If you love beer and money, there's a dream job for you.

The Smithsonian National Museum of American History is hiring a beer historian to document the background of craft beer in America.

According to Smithsonian curator Paula Johnson, the beer historian will help fill in some important details in the Smithsonian's current exhibit, the Food History Project, which chronicles big changes in what Americans eat and drink, including the recent rise in popularity of craft breweries throughout the United States.

"This is not just what's in the glass, but innovations in the industry, economic history, social and cultural history. There are a lot of strands that come together to make this part of the larger narrative of American history," said Johnson.

The position is for three years at a salary of $64,000 plus benefits.

Applications for the position can be submitted through August 10.
