GERMANTWON (WPVI) -- Police were on the scene of a barricade situation in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood.

It happened around 5 a.m. Saturday on the 5100 block of Pulaski Street.

Police say a woman called for help after her 19-year-old son, who was allegedly armed with a handgun, burst into her home and demanded money.

She then ran screaming to a neighbor's house to call police.

When officers arrived they discovered the woman's 13-year-old daughter was still in the home.

They say the suspect refused to leave.

Officers surrounded the home and evacuated nearby neighbors.

The SWAT team was called in for assistance.

The John B. Kelly Elementary School was used as a staging area for police and neighbors.

Police say before 6:30 a.m. the male surrendered to police.

There were no shots fired or injuries reported.
