Mother to be charged after 2-year-old rescued from hot car

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- Police say they plan to charge the mother of a 2-year-old boy who was rescued from a hot car in Pennsylvania.

Wilkes-Barre Township police say the boy's temperature was 102 degrees when he was pulled from the car about 2 p.m. Sunday.

The car was parked in a grocery store lot and a woman who called police told them she was able to get the door open because one window had been left open a crack.

Police gave the boy water and had the store make an announcement about him. They took his mother into custody when she responded several minutes later.

Police planned to charge the 28-year-old woman with endangering the boy, who has been taken into custody by child welfare workers.
