Man critically injured in hit-and-run in SW Philadelphia

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are looking for the driver who struck a man on Island Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia Saturday night.

It happened at 10:50 p.m. near the intersection of Glenmore Street.

Witnesses tell police the pedestrian was walking in the middle of the highway when a dark colored SUV struck the man.

The SUV then continued northbound on Island Avenue toward Cobbs Creek Parkway.

The victim was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he is listed in critical but stable condition with injuries to his head and body.

At this time the pedestrian is unidentified.
