Delaware details action plan if Zika comes to state

SMYRNA, Delaware (WPVI) -- In Delaware today, several state and health officials came together including U-S Senator Tom Carper.

There are NO local cases of Zika in Delaware.

But officials have an action plan if it happens.

It will focus on educating the public and controlling mosquitoes, as well as helping protect pregnant women and their unborn babies.

Senator Carper said he hopes Congress can address the issue once they're back in session.

Dr. Karyl Rattay, the director of Delaware's Division of Public Health, also detailed other health measures.

And Bill Meredith, the Mosquito Control Administrator with the Department of Natural Resources, demonstrated mosquito elimination techniques.
