Police are investigating a number of daycare break-ins across Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating after some 20 day cares were targeted in break-ins across the city.

Eight of the break-ins happened in the northwest district alone, and investigators there believe one man is likely responsible.

"We feel confident that were close to catching this individual," said Capt. Malachi Jones.

For now, police are trying to determine the motive.

"Maybe it's a crime of opportunity, or they have a fetish for the day care," Jones said.

Cash was taken from some of the locations, but nothing was missing from the others.

According to Captain Jones some kids at one particular day care won't be going on a summer trip now.

"This money was put aside for these kids to go on a trip and now it's taken by this individual," he said. "Trip's off."

Police have not released the name of the man who they believe is responsible.
