While there's back-to-school and talk of fall, it's not too late for a last-minute late summer vacation.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It's summer's last gasp, and while there's back to school and talk of fall, it's not too late for a last-minute late summer vacation.

And when it comes to late summer trips, procrastinators can actually save pretty big!

First, ABC News travel experts found that a lot of credit card companies offer last-minute rewards by way of hotel rooms.

When hotels have a lot of vacancies, they often open up the rooms for people to book using points.

You might not know this, but some airlines and credit cards allow you to trade in your frequent flier miles for lodging.

If you want to do a "staycation" or perhaps spend one final week at the Jersey shore, skip the flight and get a free hotel room.

But if you do want to travel away from home, remember two things. One, if you are a fly by the seat of your pants kind of person, there's a website called LastMinuteTravel.com where you can find out everything about the hotel except the name - but save about 65% off. They do the same for flights and cruises.

Next, the HotelTonight app that can get you up to 70% off a same day hotel booking.

A few more perks and freebies to consider is that American Airlines just announced free movies and TV for coach fliers. Delta and United already do.

Finally, Southwest still offers not one, but two free checked bags per person for your travels.
