Heckler to resign as Bucks County District Attorney

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler is stepping down.

Heckler announced Thursday he's resigning on Sept. 2.

Heckler started his career as an assistant Bucks County DA in 1972. He also served 11 years in the General Assembly, and as a county judge.

Heckler became DA in 2010, and won re-election in 2013. His term would have ended in January 2018.

County judges will choose an interim district attorney to serve until the November 2017 election.
