81-year-old man hurt in home invasion in North Wilmington

An 81-year-old man was injured in a home invasion in Delaware.

Police are investigating a home invasion in North Wilmington that injured an 81-year-old man.

It happened at 12:20 p.m. Friday at a home in the 700 block of Hertford Road.

New Castle County Police say the 81-year-old resident told them a suspect knocked on the door then forced his way in.

A struggle ensued and the resident was hit several times in the face.

The suspect took jewelry, some electronics, and cash from the home and got away in a red two-door sedan, police say.

The victim's disabled adult son was home at the time and was not injured.
