CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- Members of Widener University's class of 2020 are settling into their new homes at the school's campus in Chester, Pa.

Action News was there as 600 of this year's 700 freshmen moved into their dorms Tuesday morning.

Lots of precious cargo filtered into the living facilities with the help of student athletes, members of Greek life, student leadership and some administrators.

The idea was to make moving in easy for parents and newbies. But the toughest part may not have been the heavy lifting.

It was bittersweet for the Harrity family of West Norriton, Pa.

"We're very sensitive to the anxiety and excitement over the first few days," said Widener President Julie Wollman. "We also help parents understand how they can be successful."

"I'm feeling nervous," said Mary Kate Maguire Smith of Clifton Heights, Pa. "Probably a little bit of every emotion possible."

Butterflies aside, the president had a message for the incoming class.

"Make the most of your opportunities here," said Wollman. "Take advantage of all of them. You're going to have a fantastic career and life when you graduate."

The freshman moving-in process wrapped up around 1 p.m.

The upperclassmen will move in in a couple of days - without the extra help the freshman got.
