15-year-old charged with murder of 18-year-old in Delaware

NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- A 15-year-old Newark, Delaware boy is facing 1st degree murder charges in connection with the death of another teenager.

Michael Walley was arrested Tuesday at his home on the 1400 block of Chelmsford Circle.

Authorities say Walley shot and killed Dewayne Barfield the unit block of Heron Court back on June 30th.

It was approximately 10:09 p.m. when New Castle County Police responded to the area for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived they found Barfield on the ground, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.

He was transported to Christiana Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are attempting to determine a motive for the shooting.

Walley is now charged with 1st degree murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
