ALVIN, Texas -- A summer sleepover turned into a tragedy when a 15-year-old boy was fatally shot, dying in his father's arms.

Police in Alvin, Texas say that at about 5:30 a.m., Emilio "Milo" Flores, was shot once in the chest on the back patio of a home in the 3400 block of Oxford. Although details of exactly what happened are still not clear, police say it is believed that Flores was shot by Logan Anderson, 18, who is being called an acquaintance.

Police don't have a motive for the shooting and say there does not appear to be any pre-existing conflicts between the two.

Emilio's father told ABC affiliate KTRK-TV his son was having a sleepover party Monday night. Emilio's father says he was asleep and woke up around 5 a.m. to what he thought were fireworks. He ran outside to his porch and saw his son. He says Emilio died in his arms.

Emilio's father guesses his son picked the wrong friends. He talked to the 18-year-old who is in custody. Emilio's father says Anderson told him he accidentally shot Emilio. Emilio's father says his son's friends must have brought a gun to the house. The gun was not theirs.

Police say the gun belonged to Anderson, who will likely be charged with manslaughter. They think Anderson got scared after the shooting and took off. He was located and arrested and remains in custody at the Alvin Police Department. The gun was found two blocks away.

Two other teens who witnessed the shooting were interviewed by police and are not being charged. The investigation is ongoing.

Emilio's father wants to warn other families and teens to be careful and to pick your friends wisely. Emilio was a student at Alvin High School. He was supposed to start summer school today.
