A judge increased bail for a drug suspect accused in a deadly crash that occurred following a police chase in Mercer County.

Chandler Heaviside made his first appearance in Superior court via video on Thursday morning.

His bail was set at $650,000.

Police say Heaviside was fleeing authorities after a drug deal on Monday, when he slammed into another car in Hamilton Township.

The driver of that car, 22-year-old Deja Farrior, died a short time later.

Heaviside faces numerous charges.

Police say the chase was called off a little more than one mile before Heaviside crashed. Farrior's family disputes that claim.

An investigation continues.
