A 27-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia.

FELTONVILLE (WPVI) -- A 27-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia.

It happened around 4:10 p.m. Sunday on the 400 block of East Roosevelt Boulevard.

Police say a 2006 Kia Optima, driven by a 40-year-old woman, was traveling westbound in the outer lanes in the inner-most lane, making an illegal left turn onto the 5000 block of C Street.

At that time, the victim was traveling at a high rate of speed in the inner travel lanes and struck the car on the front driver side of the vehicle, police say.

He was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the center median. The motorcycle landed on the median and caught fire.

The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, police say.

He was rushed to Einstein Medical Center where was pronounced dead at 7:47 p.m.

Police say the car spun around and landed on the traffic median.

The driver was treated on the scene for her injuries and refused hospital treatment.

No arrests have been made.

Police are investigating.
