Watchdog to audit PPA amid sex harassment claims

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania's fiscal watchdog is launching an audit of the Philadelphia Parking Authority following the resignation of its executive director over sexual harassment allegations.

Auditor General Eugene DePasquale says he plans to investigate the PPA's employment policies and procedures, including how the authority handles sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace.

He said in a press release issued Monday the "initial audit will bring some much-needed transparency and openness that will benefit the entire Philadelphia region."

PPA Chairman Joseph Ashdale tells The Philadelphia Inquirer the PPA will fully cooperate with the audit.

On Wednesday, Vincent Fenerty Jr. submitted his resignation amid accusations that he sexually harassed two co-workers.

Ashdale suspended Fenerty Sept. 27 after Ashdale says he learned of an earlier sexual harassment case against Fenerty, in addition to one from 2014.

Fenerty has said he's been advised not to talk about the accusations.
