A new study accuses two soft drink giants of having a cozy relationship with health and medical groups, even being a sponsor for them.
The report says Coca-Cola and Pepsi have sponsored 96 health organizations including the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, and even the CDC.
Yet at the same time, the companies were lobbying against more than two dozen bills aimed at reducing soda consumption.
The health groups say the Coke and Pepsi money didn't influence them.
And the Heart Association says it wanted to "engage a wide variety of food and beverage companies to be part of the solution" to America's obesity problem.
The American Beverage Association, which represents the companies, says the sponsorships were part of a long tradition supporting community organizations.
