Feeling like summer in October

TRENTON (WPVI) -- Jamel Simon paid attention to the forecast. That's why as he strolled Down High Street in Burlington City Monday, he was dressed and ready for summer-like temperatures.

"They said it was going to be about 80 degrees so I figured I'm taking off work today, might as well put on some shorts," Jamel Simon of Mt. Holly, New Jersey said.

This blast of warm weather is a welcome surprise, bringing people out for a walk along the Delaware River and a bike ride around town.

"I love it. I absolutely love it. I was in Memphis last week, it was 90. I brought it back with me," Vince Bocchinfuso of Northeast Philadelphia said.

"I love when it's 80 out cause I hate being cold. So for me, I love it. I hope we can have the rest of the week being 80," Ashante McCormick of Burlington Township said.

"It's a nice touch right now before it gets too cold. But what's going to happen, it's just going to get cold all of a sudden, I think," Phil Lods of Cinnaminson said.

Tom Edwardson of Burlington City is a member of Hope Steam Fire Engine Co. No. 1 and cuts the fire department lawn. He had the mower out and hopes the hot temperatures mean his clients will need another round of grass cutting this season.

"I'm ready to get the tank tops back out, put the long johns away again. My wife just emptied all the shelves last week, took the winter clothes out, but I think she's going to have to get the totes back out," Edwardson said.

"Now that it's October, I'm 100% ready for fall, so even wearing long sleeves now, I am a little warm, and that's disappointing, but I don't mind the sunshine," Christina Moriello of Burlington Township said.

"The weather changes too much. It gets like cold and then hot. I don't be with all that," Taquan Barrett of Burlington City said.

It looks like fall outside with the decorations and the changing colors on the trees. But at least for the next couple days, it'll feel like summer - the perfect time to drop the top on the convertible one last time, like Hal James of Burlington City did.

"Just to feel the warmth of the sun on your face; you're not too hot, not too cold. It's just right," James said.
