This week's Shelter Me success story started with a simple wish.

MEDIA, Pa. (WPVI) -- This week's Shelter Me success story started with a simple wish.

"At the top of our list was to actually bring a rescue dog home," said Steve.

Katie and Steve Peisochenske found Maisey in August after two years of marriage, and moving to a new home.

"Now that we are finally settled, we really wanted to bring the dog in to kind of start our family, and to start our new life," said Katie.

Maisey is a Beagle mix with Pomeranian and Terrier traits.

"She likes to bounce and kind of go straight up in the air, which I think is part Terrier.

The 6-month-old pup came from the south, rescued from an uncertain future.

"Some dogs don't get a chance where they are. You gave them a second chance."

That's part of the mission at the Providence Animal Center.

"We are about life-saving," said Justina Calgiano, Providence Animal Center.

The no-kill shelter that used to be known as Delco SPCA is hoping to adopt 3500 animals this year.

"You see them happy with the family. There's really nothing else," Said Justina.

Events like Bark in the Park on October 29 brings the community together.

"The fruits of our labor, we see them in front of us," added Justina.

There are other dogs looking for their forever home.
