It happened before 1:30 a.m. on the 2600 block of Welsh Road.

The woman was found behind an apartment complex with a gunshot wound to the head.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was found lying between two parked cars. One of those cars is owned by April Coates.

"I see blood all over my car, bullet holes by my gas tank," Coates told Action News. "And I'm like, 'What's going on?' (The) cops said, 'We're going to take your car. We're on our way to a murder investigation.' I'm like, 'I'm on my way to work!'"

Police say the woman was shot at close range. Twelve shell casings surrounded her body.

"We know she was going to meet somebody else, another unknown individual," said Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark. "And when she got there, this individual robbed her, killed her and shot her friend. Right now it's too early for me to say what the motive is."

Meanwhile, a second scene unfolded at Nazareth Hospital.

That's where a driver in a black minivan brought a second shooting victim for treatment.

Police say the 35-year-old man was shot in the face and arm.

The victim told police he was with the woman and another man in the apartment parking lot when two people approached them, and one of them opened fire.

He gave police a possible nickname of the person who opened fire.

That victim is now listed in stable condition.

Police do think the woman was the intended target. Action News is told the shooting may have involved a drug deal.

Police say a third man was in the vehicle with both of the victims before the shooting happened. That person escaped without any injuries.

So far, there have been no arrests.
