Woman killed in North Philadelphia hit-and-run

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A woman has died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in North Philadelphia.

It happened just before midnight Saturday on the 100 block of Lehigh Avenue.

Police say the 35-year-old victim was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle left the scene.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police say they do not have a description of the vehicle, but have recovered a side-view mirror that they believe broke off the car.

Investigators are also working to see if surveillance cameras in the area captured the incident.
