The Philadelphia school year could get an earlier start under a proposal being considered the School Reform Commission.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia school year could get an earlier start under a proposal being considered by the School Reform Commission.

If the calendars are adopted, next school year would begin September 5th and finish June 14th.

The 2018-2019 school year would start before Labor Day on August 27, 2018 and end on June 4, 2019.

The amended calendars are being introduced at Tuesday night's SRC meeting and are scheduled to be voted on in December.
