November 24, 2016 - Balloon handlers arrived at JFK Boulevard and 20th Street to begin blowing up the parade balloons early Thursday morning.

There will be seventeen balloons, eighteen floats, and twenty marching bands from around the country along the parade route.

The focus has been getting the balloons inflated and weighing them down with sand bags so they are ready to go.

The sand bags play a very important part of the equation by keeping the balloons in place.

A lot of the volunteers are excited about being a part of the holiday tradition.

Some are first time volunteers, and others come year after year.

Anne Marie Carden of Collegeville says, "It's a repeat for me, great fun, adventure, and a unique experience.

The volunteers say they want to be a part of the parade performances along the route too.
