MILLSBORO, Del. --Officials say more than a dozen neglected dogs are now recovering after they were rescued from a Millsboro property last week.
Delaware's Division of Public Health said in a news release that authorities rescued 14 dogs Wednesday after they received a tip about canines running loose in a wooded area. The severely emaciated dogs were all taken to an emergency veterinary hospital for urgent care.
Officials who searched the property also found four dead dogs.
Atwood Timmons II, of Millsboro, was arrested Friday on numerous charges, including 18 counts of animal cruelty.
SPCA CEO Adam Lamb says many of the dogs will need constant care and some cannot walk, but the medical staff is hopeful they will all make a full recovery.
It is unclear whether Timmons has an attorney.
