What's the Deal: DIY holiday decor on a budget
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- If you're looking to spruce up your holiday decor, we're here to help you deck the halls in a cheap, but chic way.
To get those creative juices going, we enlisted the help of a style and design expert to give you a Pinterest-perfect home with little effort and big effect.
Tina LaMorte, lifestyle expert and event planner from Oh So Fabulous, says to just look around the house and use your imagination.
Tina has Instagram-worthy ideas that turn junk into gems.
"This is actually a white feather boa, that's all it is," she said.
Tina also grabbed a round metal wire from a craft store, added a little bling and for less than $10 dollars created a beautiful winter wreath.
"You don't sew, you don't glue nothing - its the coolest thing. To me if it's a circle, it's a wreath - I don't care what's on it," said Tina.
Don't toss the fallout feathers and grab some pine cones from the yard.
"So these are little pots. Craft store - 59 cents. Spray painted them and put extra leaves in them," said Tina.
Next, don't recycle those paint swatches or the color wheel!
"You take the swatch and I made a triangle and I bought these sticky stars," said Tina.
Glue it all to plain card stock and you've got Christmas tree chic cards.
Next, for holiday house guests pick up slippers from the sale rack
"And I went into toiletry aisle and got all the cute stuff," said Tina.
Stuff it all in and add a little note.
For a stocking stuffer or a teacher's gift, get a bottle of nail polish.
"This is just a bottle of nail polish and a ribbon and we put a tag: 'For your mistle-toes'," said Tina.
Finally, turn your centerpiece into a conversation piece.
If you have an old jewelry holder hanging around, put it to work by adding some greens and ribbon.
"You just have to tap into your imagination," said Tina.
Tina also says the key to making the perfect bow is not about the tie, but about the placement of the hot glue.
She says you glue it down for fabulously draped bow detail.
