Dancing near churches banned in Oklahoma town

HENRYETTA, OK. (WPVI) -- Remember 'Footloose,' where dancing was banned at the school? Well, in an Oklahoma town it is real life.

The town is called Henryetta. And its Valentine's Day dance has been cancelled because the town has a ban prohibiting dancing within 500 feet of a church.

One woman by the name of Robbie Kinney noticed a business was hosting the dance and called them out, saying they are 300 feet from a church, and it's illegal.

But even the mayor says it's an old law and she hasn't seen it enforced in years. She even had to dig it up to find it.

But the dance could go on as scheduled. Even the police chief says he's never enforced that law.
