NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A piece of equipment that's the lifeblood of a Northeast Philadelphia restaurant was stolen, and now the restaurant's owner is offering a $1,000 reward for its return.

A meat smoker was stolen from the Fat Jack's location on Roosevelt Boulevard this morning.

It is a two ton piece of equipment that handles 700 pounds of meat for two Fat Jack's locations.

"It was all secured, it was chained up, and somebody had the time to do it," said owner Glen Gross. "It's not something that someone's gonna drive by and say, 'hey, let's take that smoker.' It's not gonna happen."

Gross says he'll use the smoker at another one of his restaurants, and transport the meat in a refrigerated truck, for now.

The smoker is worth $30,000.
